A “sandam” is a geometric tomb of Jeju, with rectangular walls that protected against fire and prevented grazing animals from entering. Here, the square shape of the tomb is represented as a bench that contains a polygonal shape symbolizing the spirit of the deceased. Hence, the work reminds us of the utmost reverence that Jeju people held for their ancestors.
