5-Electric Cave
The media installation invokes the sublimity of nature by deconstructing the massive lava tubes of Jeju, using common objects to create a semiotic version of a cave. Using only the signifying relations of a pipe, speaker, and electrical circuit, the work plainly evinces the symbolic meaning of a cave, thus suggesting new formal possibilities for representing elements of nature.
